Deprescribing

The Practice of Good Prescribing

What Is Deprescribing?

Deprescribing is the process by which harmful medications are either significantly reduced in dosage and/or frequency or discontinued altogether in many cases.

Deprescribing is done under the care and supervision of a clinical pharmacist and is often referred to as “good prescribing” because deprescribing ensures that polypharmacy (overuse of prescription drugs) is avoided, which considerably improves health outcomes for patients. The team at NutriChem takes the deprescribing process one step further by offering safe alternatives, such as vitamins, minerals and botanical medicines where and when needed, further cementing our truly integrative approach to healthcare.
